By far my favorite place to skate is the Norwottuck Rail Trail in Western Massachussetts. It starts in Northampton and goes about 3 miles to Florence where you can loop around the fabulous Look Park. I like this trail because it is very accessible from downtown locations, yet foresty and natury. It is a wide smooth trail with plenty of leg room and no parallel car traffic. It’s a popular place for bikers, runners, and pedestrian families, but not too crowded. Also, about a mile away there is another trail which is very similar which goes for 15 miles. Eventually, there are plans to connect the two trails. This trail is part of the rails to trails program which takes abandoned railways and turns them into smooth asphalt-ways. Perfect for rollerblading.
